Our inclusive and diverse organizational culture places significant value on each employee. We encourage you to seek out career opportunities and consider joining Thungela, where you can contribute to our dynamic workforce.
Thungela's Sisonke Employee Empowerment Scheme, set to disburse its first allocation of R387 million to over 3,500 employees in December, reflects the company's commitment to sharing growth and profits with its staff. Sisonke, an isiZulu term meaning "we are together," was named through a staff competition to embody Thungela’s purpose.
The scheme, formerly known as the Employee Partnership Plan, is a trust owning 5% of Thungela’s South African Coal Operations, entitling it to 5% of SACO’s dividends. The board of trustees includes equal employee and employer representation, ensuring that the benefits are shared equally among all eligible employees after taxes and administrative expenses.
This milestone highlights the collaborative effort between the employer, the National Union of Mineworkers, and the board of trustees, aimed at creating tangible benefits for employees and their families.
